Niskayuna Travel Baseball for ages 8u and 9u

Niskayuna Baseball is opening registration for our 2017 Spring/Summer Travel/All-Star teams.

What is travel baseball:  Travel baseball is a division of play established to allow players to participate in a higher level of competition that is structured completely different from our recreation program.

This level of play is not an extension of the recreation commitment however your participation in our recreation league is required to be eligible.

A summary of what you can expect participating in this division of play:

1.   There will be an Armory fee for winter workouts that is summarized below.  If the player is selected for the travel team at his/her level, a separate fee is collected to fund the travel season.  If the player is also selected for All-Stars, another cost in incurred.   Fees are subject to change based on number of games scheduled and will be firmed up as we move closer to March.

2.  A significant commitment of time, with practices during the week and games on virtually every Sunday, as well as some games on Friday night.  Spring travel games are located throughout the Capital Region. During the summer All-Star tournaments, there could be additional travel (and associated family costs) outside of our area, including out of state.

3.  A high level of play with no guarantee of playing time, although each team is encouraged to rotate players during the spring season as they develop and progress to All-Star play.  Rather than hold ourselves to an 11 or 12 player roster, we will expand the roster significantly, if enough players progress to the travel level after 5 weeks of workouts.  At that time, an individual game schedule will be provided to each family.  The game you attend you’ll play the majority of the game.

4.  There is no guarantee that by registering to try out for Travel program that you will be placed on a team.  While the league will do its absolute best to create as many opportunities there is a possibility that some players trying out will not be added to a roster.

8U / 9U  (including experienced 7 year-olds)

1.  Players that will be 9 or under on April 30, 2017 are eligible for this level of play.

2.  There will be two teams at this level.  One team will participate in the 9u division and one in the 8u division.

3.  Registration is open for players who wish to join the 5-week instructional workout.  This registration INCLUDES a weekend clinic at Niskayuna High School with their coaching staff and players.  DO NOT REGISTER SEPARATEALY FOR THIS.

4.  At the conclusion of the 5-week workout, both teams will be announced.  The plan is to have two larger rosters, and have players dress for certain number of games.  This structure was highly successful at the 8U level last year.
