2017 RegistrationUpdated Sunday February 26, 2017 by John Hand.
Nisky Baseball is happy to announce the opening of the 2017 season and with it many new exciting plans!
At all levels Recreation baseball will have new hats, hat designs and our uniforms will sport Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball logos. Players at each level will keep their hats and uniforms at the end of the season. On the playing field, building on last year’s feedback, T-Ball will remain with small rosters for increased field play, and Single A will also see roster sizes reduced as well. Double A will continue with a runner starting at first base each inning and its improved pitching rules. AAA, Majors and Babe Ruth will continue to develop its pitch count rules as NBL has been recognized as being one of the leaders implementing the Pitch Smart pitching program.
Additionally to recreation play, NBL will be offering Travel play for those interested 7 through 15 years old. Travel will include indoor winter workouts and tryouts. Any travel player must play in the Recreation league to be eligible. More information to follow this week.
This year the popular Nisky High School Baseball Spring Clinics will again happen indoors in the middle of March. However two new changes: Due to popular demand a third session for 4-5 year olds will be offered and Travel indoor winter workouts for 7 to 12 year olds will include attending the NHS Spring Clinic. Spring Clinic registration will open later this week, stay tuned for more information.
Later this summer, NBL will host the 13-15U Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional. Teams from 10 districts all over the mid atlantic will converge on Blatnick Park for a chance to go to the Babe Ruth World Series in Tennessee. We're hoping Nisky's team prevails as its 13U team did in 2013, and the 13-15U team in 2012. More information to follow on this tournament.
Nisky Baseball is a proud user of SiPlay for its web site and registration tool. A Nisky Baseball registration includes the SiPlay free app for easy team communications from your coach. Be sure to download the app and have your mobile phone/emails updated when you register to stay connected with your teams. Schedules, rosters, contacts, weather updates, standings and so forth can all be had through the website and the app.
Dicks Sporting Goods is having an NBL Appreciation weekend March 25 and 26th ahead of the season. Enjoy a 20% discount on your entire purchase with some exclusions. Coupons to be shared online. Circle the date on your calendar. The league will also have additional coupons to share early in the season.
Please note the Picture process will be greatly simplified this year.
Recreation registration is open to any boy and girl, 4 through 15 years old, to play baseball beginning after Spring Break, April 24 through the last week of school June 21. Registration will close March 17. Early discounts are $15 per order through February 14 Valentine's Day. Multiple player family discounts also apply throughout the registration period. ($15 for the 2nd player, $50 for the third and $100 for the 4th or more.) Baseball age is based on your player's age on April 30, 2017, and the SiPlay registration software will automatically assign you to the correct playing level.
|Playing Level||Fee||Raffle Tickets||Total Cost|
|A (Single A)||$130||$40||$170|
|AA (Double A)||$155||$40||$195|
|AAA (Triple A)||$165||$40||$205|
Nisky Baseball is pulling together fall ball options for all players. This registration is for players entering or continuing in Babe Ruth.
Fall Baseball at the Babe Ruth Level is a travel baseball league (similar to Spring Travel) played at a higher competition level than our normal recreational baseball.
Travel is all around the Capital Region and we are reviewing tournament options.
For Fall Ball registration, the player's 2018 baseball age is used to determine their team. Your child's baseball age is determined by taking the age they will be on April 30 2018.
If you are interested, please register now for no cost. We will determine if we have enough player interest, pitchers and coaches to field teams at the various levels.
Teams could be age based or a mixture of ages based on counts.
(If you are a pitcher, be sure to throw a bullpen on the side this week. For returning 60'-6" distance pitchers that haven't been working out since the end of this past season, 30-40 pitches max. 55-65 pitches for those that have continued working out. For new pitchers at this distance, consult your current coaches for a step up program as the pitching distance is now 20% more.)
Register today! We will have our plan by the end of this week.
