Niskayuna Warriors 9U defeated East Fishkill 4-1 on Tuesday in Poughkeepsie after taking the lead late in the game. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th, Nisky’s Jackson Horner pinch hit hitting a triple.   Dillon Wood proceeded to earn a walk via hit by pitch.  Will Souza re-entered the game as a pinch runner for Dillon.  After the runner at first stole second,  Matthew Hand hit a sacrifice fly to deep right to score Jackson, and advance the runner at second to third.   Braden Fields then stepped up and delivered a hard ground ball to the third baseman. Will Souza ran on contact, and expertly slid under the tag for Nisky to take the lead 2-1.   Cam Grasso then stepped up to the plate, pulling a line drive to the 225 foot fence for a 2 run, inside the park home run to put Nisky up 4-1.

Cam earned the win for Niskayuna . He pitched two innings, surrendering zero runs, zero hits, and striking out three. Matthew started the game for Niskayuna Warriors 9U. He threw four innings, giving up one run, six hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

Niskayuna Warriors 9U didn't commit a single error in the field.

Lead by Alex Kerr in average and RBI’s in the State Tournament, Nisky is currently 10-0 in All Star play including playing a 14 inning game in Districts and back to back doubleheaders in pool play at States.

In the Semi-Finals verse North Colonie, Sami Chowdrey put Nisky on the board early with a 2 RBI Triple to left field.  Bryan Yetto went 2-3 in the game.  He caught a fly ball in center in the top of the 6th and then, with the bases loaded, recorded a six pitch save on a ground ball force out to Willem Greene at third throwing home and a pop up to second base.

In the pool play clincher, Willem Greene earned the save with 3 clutch innings of relief to secure the #1 Seed for Nisky.  Charles Gadsden sparked an early lead verse Highland in pool play with a lead off bunt single and lead the team in on base percentage during States.

The 8 person pitching staff including specialist Justin Black’s 0.00 WHIP, surrendered just 3.7 runs per game at States.

In Districts, Cyrus Matia delivered a walk off 2 RBI double in the bottom of the 14th inning over North Colonie to put Nisky in the lead position to clinch a District title.

Good luck to the 9U All Stars as they travel to Douglasville, PA (Daniel Boone) for the 9U Mid-Atlantic Regional.
